**DJI Dock 3 – New Automatic Drone**

Our Favorite New Features
The DJI Dock 3 not only introduces new technological advancements but also addresses certain regulatory gaps, particularly concerning European regulations. Here are the key updates that significantly impact SORA assessments and drone operations, according to Digisky:
- DJI Flight Termination System (FTS) – Facilitates operations near risk-prone areas.
- Extended Flight Autonomy – Up to 54 minutes of announced flight time.
- Enhanced Environmental Resistance, specifically adapted for alpine conditions:
- Wind resistance up to 12 m/s
- Operational temperature range from -30°C to 50°C
- A dock more resistant to snow
- IP56 certification for better protection against water and dust ingress
- Improved Availability & Efficiency:
- Faster battery recharging
- Quick take-off in just 10 seconds
- Advanced Navigation & Connectivity Features:
- Optional LIDAR-based obstacle detection module for drones
- RTK module mounted outside the Dock for improved connectivity
- Greater Versatility – Matrice 4D/4TD drones can also operate independently of the dock.
These improvements make the DJI Dock 3 a more robust and adaptable solution for professional drone operations.
The Matrice 4D and 4TD Drones
As their names suggest, the Matrice 4D and 4TD are the “Dock (D)” versions of the Matrice 4, recently introduced by DJI. With a more robust and fixed design, these Dock versions are built for greater durability, particularly in harsh weather conditions, thanks to their IP55 certification, which enhances resistance to rain and dust.
The Matrice 4D is specifically designed for high-precision mapping and inspection missions.
The Matrice 4TD is equipped with an infrared camera, enabling thermal imaging for low-visibility environments and a new NIR (Near-Infrared) light, with a range of up to 100 meters, improving nighttime visibility. Advanced tracking functions, making it highly effective for search and rescue operations, law enforcement, and security applications.
Other Significant Modifications
Simplified Parachute Integration: We appreciate this nod to European regulations and the ability for onboard system providers, such as certified parachute manufacturers, to integrate their modules more easily via an E-Port and built-in management within FlightHub 2.
Another point that we hope will be resolved soon in Switzerland is the use of the 4G/5G network, which will enable safer and more advanced BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) applications.
Finally, although rarely used dynamically in Europe, it is worth noting the DJI Dock 3’s mounting and power module for vehicles, allowing for easy transport and deployment of the dock without significant installation efforts at operational sites.
Intégration et autorisation
The new DJI Dock 3 includes significant and simplifying changes for operators, to the point that Dock 2 orders are now directly replaced by Dock 3. Obtaining a SORA authorization to operate the Dock 3 poses no major issues. We are proud to already offer generic SORA BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight, automated) authorizations to our clients for all DJI Dock systems.
